The second Calaveras Mule Packers Challenge is a great, family friendly event taking place at Frogtown, the Calaveras County Fairgrounds, on October 24th and 25th, 2009.  This year we'll be expanding our line-up to nearly 50 classes during the two day event.  The Packer's Challenge classes will be the main course of the event, with packers competing both days in a variety of challenges from individual hitch classes, to team packing races.  You'll see the packers display their expertise, packing everything you can think of on their mules and racing against each other and the clock!  Enjoy watching our youth packers compete as they carry on the time-honored tradition of packing mules. 

The popular Calaveras Gold Mine Race will be back, but this time it'll be started off with a packer's scramble that you won't want to miss!  We'll even have local firefighters and law enforcement officers competing against each other packing wild steers!  Get your camera ready, you won't want to miss, as we try to make a World Record for the Longest String of Pack Mules ever!  There will also be an expanded trail course to find the Ultimate Trail Mule, and watch as the packers navigate through obstacles leading 5 mules at a time.

Also coming back this year will be the great gymkhana and cattle divisions.  Watch these fine mules and donkeys as they race the barrels and poles!  The cattle classes are a pleasure for all to see as these mules work with their riders to rope and sort cattle with the best of them!  

So whether you'd like to see the extreme talent of our packers, the versatility and athleticism of the mules and donkeys and the talent of their riders, or the hilarious and difficult challenges we'll put them through....there is something for everyone at the Calaveras Mule Packers Challenge!
